Harmanpreet Kaur was very upset during the post-match ceremony because she felt that some unfair decisions by the umpires affected India’s chances of winning the ODI series against Bangladesh. The third ODI at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium was an exciting match where all players showcased their skills. In the end, the match ended in a tie, and both teams won one game each in the series.

India had to chase a target of 226 runs to win. Although they lost a couple of wickets early, Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol’s partnership of 107 runs brought them closer to the target. When Harmanpreet Kaur came to bat after Mandhana’s dismissal, India still needed 87 runs. She tried to lead her team calmly towards the target, but her innings was cut short by a questionable LBW decision.

During the 34th over, Kaur attempted to sweep a delivery from Nahida Akter, but the ball hit her pad and then went to the hands of the fielder at first slip. The umpire declared her out LBW, which made Kaur furious, and she reacted by hitting the stumps with her bat. On her way back to the pavilion, she seemed to gesture that the ball hit her bat before the pad. Later in the game, when India’s No. 11 Meghna Singh was given out caught behind with the scores level, the pacer also seemed unhappy with the decision, although her reaction was not as extreme as her captain’s.

After the match, Harmanpreet Kaur strongly criticized the umpires for making some controversial decisions during the game. She also mentioned that the next time India tours Bangladesh, they will be more mindful of the level of umpiring and prepare accordingly.

Kaur expressed, “We have learned a lot from this game. Apart from cricket, we were very surprised by the kind of umpiring that took place. The next time we come to Bangladesh, we will make sure to be better prepared to deal with such umpiring decisions.”

She also acknowledged Bangladesh’s good batting performance and their ability to handle the situation well by taking crucial singles. While India controlled the game well when they were batting, they were disappointed by some of the decisions made by the umpires, which they felt were not up to the mark.
