Rahul Ramesh, a 35-year-old trekker from Bengaluru who had been missing since September 28, has been recovered near Manali’s Jogini waterfall.

Rahul had seemingly fallen from a cliff, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police in Manali, KD Sharma. His body was discovered 400 meters below the cliff, in a challenging operation undertaken by a team of dedicated rescuers.

The search for Rahul was triggered when his mobile phone was found on September 29 in the dense forests near Jogini Fall. Messages and photographs on the phone revealed that he had lost his way while returning from a trek to Bhrigu lake.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a bear encounter, given a previous sighting of a bear near where Rahul’s phone was discovered.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, KD Sharma, has announced that Rahul Ramesh’s body will undergo a post-mortem examination before being returned to his grieving family. This tragic incident serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictable nature of outdoor adventures and underscores the paramount importance of safety measures when exploring the great outdoors.
