Gurugram: Two restaurants located in South Point Mall on Golf Course Road in Gurugram Sector 53 are currently facing complaints alleging that they have been serving beef, an act deemed in violation of the law prohibiting cow slaughter in Haryana. The complaints were lodged with Police Commissioner Kala Ramachandran by social activist Kulbhushan Bhardwaj, who further asserted that these restaurants have been actively promoting beef consumption through their social media presence, citing Instagram posts as evidence.

The Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015, strictly prohibits cow slaughter, trafficking, and beef consumption within the state. Kulbhushan Bhardwaj highlighted that the menus of the two restaurants include items that could potentially offend the religious sentiments of Hindus, raising concerns about the disturbance of peace and religious harmony in the city. He cautioned that if prompt action is not taken by the authorities, Hindu organizations may step in to address the matter.

DCP Nitish Aggarwal of East Gurugram confirmed that the concerned department would collect and examine meat samples from the two restaurants. Subsequent actions will be determined based on the results obtained from the laboratory reports. The owner of one of the restaurants denied the allegations, asserting that the establishment has been operating in accordance with the law for the past 15 years.
