The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has appealed to the Ministry of Home Affairs to transfer 10-12 notorious gangsters lodged in jails in North India to Andaman and Nicobar jail. The NIA has asked the officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs to transfer some selected vicious prisoners to the Andaman and Nicobar Jail.
According to sources, NIA wants to Shift gangster majorly from the jails of Punjab, Delhi and Haryana.
According to the report, the NIA is also considering the option of sending some gangsters to Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam, where Waris Punjab de Pramukh Amritpal Singh and his associates are currently present. Amritpal is accused in many cases in Punjab.
Why NIA wants to shift criminals in Andaman and Nicobar?
Andaman and Nicobar is a union territory and in such a situation, the center will not have to take separate permission from anyone to shift these gangsters there. Andaman’s jail is also called Kalapani.
